Benedict's Law: Allergy and Anaphylaxis Training for Schools - Is Your Team Ready to Respond?

An allergic reaction can happen anywhere in school: in the classroom, at lunch, on a trip or duing an after school activity. When a pupil needs help, staff need to recognise what is happening and know how to respond.
With the introduction of Benedict's Law which sets out mandatory, statutory allergy safety requirements for schools in England, it is essential that staff and volunteers in school and education settings have the knowledge and confidence to respond quickly and appropriately when an allergy related emergency occurs.
At MEDTEK Training, we can deliver the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Allergy and Anaphylaxis Awareness to prepare your staff to recognise, manage and respond effectively to allergy-related incidents and medical emergencies, including anaphylaxis and asthma attacks.
What does the Training cover?
The course helps learners understand:
Understand how to safely manage allergies in schools.
To understand what an allergy is and how allergic reactions occur
Identify the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis and asthma
How to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected anaphylaxis or having an asthma attack
How to treat an allergic reaction
Understand the impact allergies can have on a child's wellbeing
How to report and record incidents.
The qualification involves two guided learning hours, is Ofqual Regulated, and has a certificate valid for one year.
Designed for all staff and volunteers working in schools and education settings who may be required to recognise allergic reactions, and who have a responsibility for the care, supervision and safety of children and young people.
